It's an eye catching chase card that had a decently high price out of the gate, so seeing it shoot up in value is nothing out of this world

Like Stage 1 Pokmon, this means that, from the start of the game, the player who plans to attack with these Pokmon in a deck will need at least two turns of Setup or the time it takes to go from beginning the game to having a Pokmon that is ready to take knockouts against the opponents Pokmon or for the player to be otherwise be ready to execute the decks strategy to win

With all this artifact play going on you want redundancy, resilience and protection for your little artifacts and Toph, the First Metalbender, Mendicant Core, Guidelight, and Inspirit, Flagship Vessel do so very nicely

The whole cycling thing is a fun hoop to try to jump through, and if its in your opening or early hand probably the right call
